KALAMAZOO, MI - The office portion of The Foundry Project - a $10 million office and restaurant development in downtown Kalamazoo - is on track to be completed in July.

The restaurant portion of the 53,000-square-foot project at 600 E. Michigan Ave. is to be completed and open for business in October.

Treystar, the Kalamazoo-based developer of the project, has not yet named the restaurant that will use about 6,000 square feet of space there, but said it will be a unique eatery, rather than one that is part of a national chain.

"The whole concept of the building really is taking and refurbishing an old foundry and creating a space where Millennials will be attracted," said Fritz Brown, vice president and a principal owner of Treystar. "So really, the building is a combination of a restaurant with four or five tenants around a shared plaza area and conference rooms."
