KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) -- They broke ground on the Foundry yesterday for the second time. The first time was over 100 years ago when the building on East Michigan Avenue was erected to house a steel manufacturing operation.

After years of little activity, it s been stripped down to its walls and in the warehouse section, down to it s steel frame.

The Structure will be redeveloped into open office space and a new restaurant.

Senator Margaret O Brien helped the developers get a traffic light on East Michigan in front of the building and the hope is that it will generate even more development along the river front.

They plan to snip the ribbon in ten months.

The restaurant will be announced in two weeks, and they are looking for other tenants.
